“3: Don`t make assumptions.” I think that as Christians, we are destined to forgive sinners because God will judge us all. When Jesus was nailed to the cross, he said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” He knew they had different beliefs, he knew they didn`t realize what they were doing, he knew that Roman rabbis and soldiers were wrong in their faith. He could have asked God to relieve his pain, but instead Jesus asked God to forgive his torturers. Jesus asked His Father not to make assumptions about the people who hurt Him because they did not know that He was the Son of God. Even after the Roman rabbis and soldiers had assumptions about Jesus, he asked God to forgive them. He knew they had made assumptions, but he gave his life just so that the people who hurt Him the most could be saved. This is where Ruiz`s first three chords have the rubber moment on the road. The other three agreements will enter into force with the final agreement. Ruiz calls this “personal importance.” The concept deals with the idea that we see ourselves as the center of the universe. Especially unconsciously. People believe that everything that happens revolves around them, it`s about us. But nothing else is really about us. This applies to personal insults.
Ruiz recommends that we stay away from the need to be right or win the argument. Our beliefs are “our beliefs.” Our beliefs are chords we have chosen to perceive reality – our lenses. This does not mean that our beliefs are correct in any way. Avoid making an argument by not trying too hard to convince others that your perspective or view of reality is the right version. They completely missed the value of Ruiz`s book. It`s really not as self-centered as you say, in one of the chapters it says it`s a form of egocentrism when you make assumptions because you assume it`s all about you. I don`t see how a man who encourages us to be people of integrity and work hard is supposed to be a magician. Your comments will make you look like a religious fanatic. While it`s good to distinguish New Age literature, it`s also important that you see its value, at least it`s more inclusive than Christianity. Nothing in New Age philosophy avoids other beliefs, while the Bible condemns same-sex marriages, including the time she spent with non-disciples. Finally, I see the immense value of the four agreements, but the empowerment of the agreements needs the Holy Spirit. Interestingly, Ruiz ends the book by talking about becoming a spiritual warrior.
It all starts with consciousness – unfortunately, most people are not aware of their condition or situation. Awareness is the first step. Well, according to Ruiz, if we go against these agreements, we will probably be punished, and if we follow the agreements, we will be rewarded. In the presentation of this Toltec concept, Ruiz points out that each person becomes his own servant and the result is that we all create our own living hell. And what we do is punish ourselves again and again. It`s a vicious circle, and Ruiz wants to help humanity alleviate some of the suffering we endure. In its premise, no one punishes or mistreats us as much as we do. We have learned to live to satisfy others and seek their approval, but at the time we reject ourselves.
Why, because we believe that we are not perfect enough by the standards of our societies. Finally, the last of Ruiz`s chords should calm the minds of those who spend their time worrying about being perfect. In the Christian faith, the Apostle Paul reminds his disciples that it is much more important to do their best than to be constantly compared to those around them. The fourth agreement relieves the pressure of always being impeccable and makes it acceptable for us, as human beings, to have our flaws as long as we try to be the best we can. The solution according to Ruiz are the four agreements. We create our own new and empowering agreements based on how this world really works. This creates a new reality in which we can live. So that`s where Ruiz`s four agreements come in. “4: Always give your best.” Isn`t that what our faith (or other religions) drives us to do? To be the best we can do, either for God`s sake or for ourselves? To help others make your life and that of everyone around you (and not around you) easier and better? For me, this agreement is about helping others whenever you can, doing your best not to be a burden to everyone around you, simply – to be the best you can be, either by following your faith or your own personal beliefs. The other way this agreement could be interpreted is this: God knows what is best for you, so what God wants you to do is follow the Bible and do your best.
In the end, only He knows what is good for each of us, regardless of what we believe in. As far as my beliefs are concerned, these are my two biggest problems with Catholics: I believe that we Christians should respect the Jewish people and their traditions more. After all, it was the faith in which our Lord Jesus Christ grew up and celebrated. I also don`t believe in celibacy (in my opinion, Jesus and the apostles were too busy traveling, learning, and teaching to care for women or earthly pleasures), but I respect priests because in choosing celibacy, they choose to live like him. Nor do I believe that the four agreements are the ultimate truth. I think these are ten agreements that are too simplified. In conclusion, I see the immense value of the four agreements, but the empowerment of the agreements needs the Holy Spirit. Interestingly, Ruiz ends the book by talking about becoming spiritual warriors.
It all starts with consciousness – unfortunately, most people are not aware of their condition or situation. Awareness is the first step. Apart from the Bible, what books would you recommend to Christians who are going through psychological problems? We are kept away from books like these, but we never receive useful counsel with Christian perspectives. They completely missed the value of Ruiz`s book. Ruiz encourages us to make the four chords a habit.
Make it a goal and realize that it will cost us a lot of effort. He acknowledges that there will be times when we do not respect the four agreements. Learn and be honest with yourself during the process. Start again in those moments. Don`t blame or judge. We need to know that failure is part of transformation, and when you experience agreements through practice and failure, it becomes easier. If you fall, get up. Brain Mason writes: But what “SHOULD” be a Christian`s reaction to this book? Tell us Brian.
What “SHOULD” be my reaction to the four chords – What “should I” believe, what “should” I read, observe, write, say ????? You are selfish and narcissistic because you project your own revelations onto others and say that what you think is “the answer” should be. I`m sad about it because it`s arrogant and selfish and you`re using the Bible to argue something that probably doesn`t even interest God in reality. I fought the four covenants with God and He revealed to me that I should pass on this knowledge to other people because some people are in a different place where they receive instructions, and the Four Agreements are based on love, not on all that nonsense that you are telling. Witchcraft hahahaha Because Jesus came to accomplish this with the New Testament. Anyway Brian. I love you, brother, but you don`t need to be so cut off and dry with your belief systems that it will keep you in life – What God wants you to live abundantly!! Anyone can use Don Miguel`s book and make their life so much better – It`s much more convenient than the Bible with different wisdom – Don`t shine it – Love it and use it to make what you already know stronger. .
